'Exam tips to teachers': Michael Gove orders inquiry
Mr. Gove is not my favourite person, but this is a really interesting article following on from the plagiarism angle we discussed a month or so back. Any thoughts?
Yes, another very interesting angle on this topic. It seems to me that schools, colleges and uni's have become businesses, in the economic sense of the word. The emphasis now is on league tables, results and performance, published by the broadsheets every year - and poured over by many a parent to see which school might be best for their children. Grants and funding have been cut, so schools are just as tempted as we are by plagiarism - like us, they want to maintain their position in the field. Its the way of the world nowadays - but at least there are still committed tutors and students out there that are keepin' it real!!
Indeed Amanda, there are still lots of us, students and lecturers alike who keep up the good fight, an important one too.
Rarely do I hear the words learners, learning, achievements etc but I do hear things about business. It is so frustrating when I hear and read about educational institutions as being part of the business world. And we know how highly people think of businesses these days...
