The following books (available from Blackwell at the princely sum of one pound) are sure to help you with your studies this year and beyond: 'How to write essays' by Sandra Ashman and Phyllis Creme, 'Taking notes from lectures' by Sandra Ashman and Phyllis Creme, 'Reading for study' by Sandra Ashman and Phyllis Creme, 'Improve your memory' by Ron Fry and 'Citing references' by David Fisher and Terry Harrison. Now, I bought these last year and referred the students to these texts, so hopefully they are still available and they are of assistance to you. All the best, Mark

ReplyDeleteohhh fantastic ! something I need for sure..
ReplyDeleteHi Mark,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendations, these books do look very usefull, might pop along to Blackwell's, i believe there is a store located just off Chambers Street.
I do still relish the art of actually owning a book, although i must admit, i have thought about a Kindle, the are ALL the rage !!!!!
Kenna
Funny you should say that Kenna, as the first assessment we are going to study is on Kindles and the like and what we think of them. See you tomorrow and yes, your nearest one is precisely there and there are lots of lovely coffee houses where you can chill out, most notably the Spoon Cafe Bistro http://spooncafe.co.uk/ where I believe JK Rowling wrote some of her finest works!
ReplyDeleteHi Mark,
ReplyDeleteOoh yes, i know the exact cafe you are refering to, i was also just mentioning that to a friend as we walked past that very same place the other day.
I wonder if JK Rowling herself knew the extent
of what her writings would create?
I will look forward to some Kindle banter tomorrow in class.
Kenna
Kindle banter is a week tomorrow in the format of the first assessment. The next two classes are about continuing the 'cheating is rife' practice assessment!
